Last year I stumbled upon the Marylebone High Street Christmas fair and concert and it was serendipitous. This year I sought it out and it was as magical and enjoyable as I remembered.
It's a one night affair with a true community feel as many of the local shops, schools and associations get involved. There is a concert with a local choir and various entertainers before a celebrity guest throws the switch, turning on the Christmas lights and officially starting Christmas.
Of course Santa was there and was the most popular attraction for a certain demographic.
I indulged in some mulled wine and a mini mince pie (before dinner! Gasp!)
Santa's reindeer waited patiently for him to finish up with his duties and posed pretty for the pap.
Attending this event really got me into the spirit and I went home and listened to Christmas music (it might have been mid November--breaking my own no Christmas music before Dec 1 rule, but it couldn't be helped).
Fun travels!
I love coming here! I've never seen it during Christmas season, so have to go and check that out.
ReplyDeleteIt's one of my favourite streets in London generally, but at Christmas time, it's just magic.
