To Market, To Market: Maltby Street Market

I haven't done one of these 'To Market, To Market' posts,  in a while. I'm returning to the series with a visit to Maltby Street Market, never heard of it? Yeah, I hadn't either until recently. This little known gem is one of London's top rated food markets, similar to it's neighbour, Borough Market, but a bit quieter and a lot more affordable. This lively little street is filled with pop-up food stalls, drink stalls, and under arch shops as the Ropewalk is located under the rail line.

We arrived mid morning one sunny Saturday and after wandering the street taking in all the sights, smells and a few samples, we agreed on stopping for lunch at Monty's Deli. I had Pate bun and Steph had Potato Latkes, but really what everyone was there for was the hot pastrami and salt beef sandwiches.  They did look amazing, but there was a long wait for those and we were HUNGRY! We then figured it was time to wash down our meals with classic gins.

We found a seat in the very shabby chic Little Bird London dry gin and placed our orders. I had the most wonderful Perfect G&T and Steph tried the Rhubarb Robin Negroni (I think).

We continued walking along and eventually found ourselves at Borough Market. Walking is thirsty work, so we rested while sipping Pimm's and Mimosas. Finally ending our day (after a quick pop into a museum) with a glass of wine and people watching.

Go hungry, go thirsty, but seriously you must go!

Malby Street Market is open Saturdays 9-4 and Sundays 11-4

Fun travels!
